Focusing on the home market is a fantastic idea and offering lower-cost recovery services (with a longer time line) is really appreciated. The home market is becoming increasingly reliant on their PC's as they store a wider variety of data (photos, movies, music, taxes, finances, and documents) on those PC's. At the same time, it's probably safe to say that the home user is least likely to make backups of that data.

Your service philosophy is outstanding - in many ways, the best part of the experience. Our technician, Craig Jones, did a tremendous job keeping us updated on the status of our failed drive, clearly explaining the options, and never making my Aunt feel pressured about making snap decisions. The kind attitude of "take your time, think about it" is refreshing in today's world. Recovery is a big ticket item for your typical home user and this empathetic approach is very reassuring. I also appreciated his willingness to work with two of us - myself as the technical contact and my Aunt for decision-making authority. Craig has excellent "bedside manner."

Finally, the recovery was a success, and a replacement drive was shipped quickly. When I initially heard the drive, I really doubted if recovery would even be possible. Your free evaluation and firm estimate policies are very much appreciated.

I recovered nearly all (a few emails seem to be missing) of my data. When I learned you were local (I live in Chicago) I drove my hard drive to your office and picked it up when it was ready. I am not techo-savy, so I had a friend help me copy the files to my PC. (I think perhaps the directions could be a little more helpful.) All in all I was very pleased with your service. I did tell some other individuals who were having data recovery issues about your service but frankly, they were put off by the price that I paid. My particular drive was in the end too damaged to yield much recovered data. ActionFront kindly provided me the data they did recover free of charge. I was very impressed by the fact that ActionFront did not give up easily on the recovery. Several different approaches were tried. Electrical problems in the drive were repaired, the disk was imaged multiple times, a raw recovery of the most important files was attempted, and finally new read-write heads were transplanted into the drive to see if the recovered image could be improved. I like the fact that I was not charged anything until I knew exactly what was recoverable and was provided a list of what was recoverable. It wasn't until after I had looked at the list and spoken to my sales rep and further testing was done that I discovered not all files were recoverable. As a graphic artist when push comes to shove, what I paid to have the data recovered was worth it compared to what it would have taken to have recreated the files that were recovered. I'm sorry it has taken so long to write this, but I really wanted to thank you for the incredible job Action Front did in retrieving my data. I also wanted to share with you what I went through with another Data Recovery company before having the pleasure of dealing with your company.
I wasted about a month dealing with this other Data Recovery company before finding Action Front. Never having needed data recovery services before, I just used the first company who came up on a Google search that had low pricing. This company made a point of slamming companies like Action Front, for what they said were misleading FREE evaluation services. They went on to say that these types of companies would then hold a consumers data hostage with high back end recovery fees after sucking them in with these no risk evaluation gimmicks!
Conversely, this company said they were up front with all their costs and charged a flat $175 evaluation fee. Then they said it would only be 48hrs before I would know if my data could be recovered. Prior to the evaluation I was also given an upfront and very low recovery fee that would only be due if in fact the evaluation proved that data recovery could be successful. Considering all the fees together added up to about 1/4 of those fees charge by legitimate companies like Action Front, I figured I would try this company's service.
WHAT A MISTAKE!!! In this case the old adage "You Get What You Pay For" couldn't be more true. After 10 days of having my hard drive this company still did not know if they could recovery my data. Finally after numerous calls and pleadings with different techs, I was told the drive was useless and nothing could be done! They explained that all I owed was the $175 evaluation fee and offered to discard my "useless drive" for me. Thank God I had enough sense to ask them to return it. I was told that would cost an additional $25 bringing my total costs to $200!
Upon receiving my drive back (30 days from the date it was first shipped) I took a friend's advice and decided to get a second opinion. That's when I contacted Action Front and spoke with you. You were not only courteous & professional but genuinely confident that your techs could help. After shipping off my drive to Action Front I was contacted within 48 hrs with the great news. All the data I was concerned about was retrieved. I am happy to say I am up and running again thanks to you and Action Front!
Though I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else, I will go out of my way to recommend your services to those who may need them. You may want to point out to customers that call Action Front, that there are other Data Recovery companies out there giving low ball pricing. But as I found out "you'll only get what you paid for!"
